At the age of twenty, classical guitarist David Massey is in a unique position. Since initially coming to prominence as a finalist (the first guitarist in over twenty years) in the 2006 BBC Young Musician competition, he has continued to be an exciting ambassador for the instrument, undertaking numerous recitals and engagements whilst furthering his studies at the Royal Academy of Music.

Performing a growing repertoire of works ranging from contemporary to the rennaissance, he has been hailed as "one of the best young players in the country". He has given recitals at some of the most prestigious halls in the country, including the Wigmore Hall, Purcell Room and the Sage Gateshead, as well as many smaller venues, and has appeared on BBC Radio 3's In Tune programme, described as a "master of the instrument".

He has been praised for his "intense" and "intimate" performances in which he has "the audience literally eating out of his hands" combined with a "beautiful tone" and a "remarkable energy and range of tone and dynamics".

He is able to draw on a wide range of musical experience - having also played mandolin in a number of orchestral works, and playing electric guitar and writing songs for his rock band, "The Debt Offensive".
